Osama bin Laden's death key topic on Internet
The announcement late Sunday of the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has set the Internet abuzz, as users searched for information and shared their thoughts on the killing of one of the world's most wanted men. Silicon Valley's road to recovery
Things are bubbling in Silicon Valley, according to the latest quarterly Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Confidence Index. Based on a continuing survey of San Francisco Area/Silicon Valley Venture Capitalists compiled by Professor Mark Cannice at UC San Francisco, the index shows confidence gaining momentum, with a rise from 3.75 in the previous quarter to 3.91 out of 5. This represents a significant jump from the doldrums of late 2008 when the confidence index was in the mid to high 2s. Read More

Cisco jumps into portable data center market
Cisco Systems launched its first containerized data center on Monday, coming late to the party but offering some unique management features that could help set it apart from other vendors. Containerized data centers typically are standard 20- or 40-foot shipping containers packed with servers, switches, and other IT equipment. Pioneered by companies such as Verari Systems and Sun Microsystems, they're used to quickly add extra capacity to an existing data center or to bring capacity to a remote location, such as an oil exploration site or a battlefield. IE9 can't stop Microsoft's browser slump
The March launches of Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) and Firefox 4 failed to stop Microsoft's and Mozilla's decline in browser share, new Web usage data shows. According to California-based Net Applications, one of a handful of companies that regularly publishes browser usage data, IE lost eight-tenths of a percentage point of share in April, falling to 55.1 percent, a new low for Microsoft.
