Oracle to fix 73 security bugs next week
Oracle plans to release a large number of security patches for its various software products next week, including six bug-fixes for its flagship database software. All told, there will be 73 security vulnerabilities fixed across Oracle's various product lines. Oracle releases patches for all of its software -- except the Java virtual machine -- quarterly, in a set of patches it calls the Critical Patch Update (CPU). Read More

Intel and Micron shrink NAND flash
Intel and Micron Technology on Thursday said they had shrunk NAND flash memory in size, which could help add more storage and features to smartphones or tablets. The flash memory, made using 20-nanometer process technology, will provide more dense storage than earlier flash chips made using older manufacturing technologies. Read More

Mobile, cloud are changing application development
Mobile and cloud computing are beginning to change the way that developers work at enterprise-level and smaller businesses, according to a report released this week by Forrester Research. The report, entitled "The State of Application Development in Enterprises and SMBs," also found that the use of development technologies such as HTML5 is becoming more prominent, although Java and .Net still dominate. Vendor sues HP over Web testing software
A California software vendor is claiming that Hewlett-Packard officials evaluated its eValid website testing technology, then subsequently stole its intellectual property for use in a rival product released last year, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Google reports solid Q1 results
Google reported solid growth in the first quarter, just as co-founder Larry Page prepares to usher in a new chapter in the company's history. The search giant's revenue hit $8.58 billion for the quarter ending March 31, a 27 percent increase compared to the first quarter last year. Read More
